Yep, I’m pretty sure he learned nothing. But it was another step toward bucking the system for my girl. Just recently she was presenting at a conference in Switzerland. A man stood up and challenged her, saying that he’d already found that mutation on the gene she was talking about, and that it was nothing. And that she was wasting her time. In front of an entire amphitheatre of hundreds of her peers. She was furious, and tried to response with eloquence, but she’s only 26. He later found her supervisor from the cancer agency and apologized…to him, not her. Because he made a mistake and was talking about a different gene. She was livid, because he didn’t have the grace to come to her, but to her male supervisor. I can’t help but think if she was a man, that would never have happened.
