When my oldest daughter was six and my youngest 3, we are at a neighbourhood gathering at friend’s house. My girls were attempting to pin another neighbour’s son to the ground. The owner’s daughter, a year younger than my oldest, sat on the steps watching in her frilly pink dress. My husband turned to me and said, “Why aren’t our girls dainty like that?” To which I replied, “Our girls will be dainty when they want to be dainty, but they’ll also be rough and tumble, and tough as nails. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.” For the record, neither would he. Both in their twenties now, they are as brilliant as they are stunning, both elite athletes, and both still tough as nails. Thank you for sharing.
