Oh, my goodness! Your experience EXACTLY paralleled mine! I refused the anti-coagulant because I told them I was not lying in bed, I was up and walking around my room (they kept me in isolation even though I had viral meningitis, not bacterial) constantly, because in addition to the headache, I had horrible back pain, and those hospital beds…

After they burnt out yet another vein, I told them, “NO MORE.” I demanded to go home, but they said I had to eat first. I was so nauseated, and their food was so atrocious, that I couldn’t stomach it. So I asked my husband to bring me food to show them I was eating.

They didn’t let me go until, at 7 days, I begged the neurologist to let me go and he said, “Sure. Just take the meds for another week.) Really, that’s all I had to do? Why the #%$## didn’t they let me go sooner????

They gave me the oral Acyclovir to take home, plus a hugely expensive anti nauseant, which I never ended up taking.

I had long ropey veins in both arms from where the drugs sclerosed them. Took months and months for those to disappear.

I’m so sorry you had to go through this Donna. Our medical system!! Grrr…
