I’ve not heard of this term, compassion fatigue. But I believe that is exactly what I’m suffering from. I’ve dealt with a mother who has struggle with the a bipolar disorder for all of my life, and after my father passed away, she lived with us for 27 years. Now I’m dealing with my youngest girl, one of the brightest, kindest, and most wonderfully empathetic people I have ever met, as she struggles with severe depression, anxiety and self harm. She has gained 80 pounds and seems to be trying to eat herself to death. I wake up wanting to scream in frustration each night. I love her so much, but I’m mad, and sad, and so, so tired of it all.

Thanks for this article. It was brilliant.
