first, thank you for reading and taking the time to comment, second, don’t change anything yet! 4 agent rejections is not enough to make a decision about what is not working. I queried 63 agents before I found mine. Of those 63, I had 15 full requests, 10 partial requests, and 2 R&R’s. Before I signed, I made a spread sheet of all my queries, with categories for liked voice, didn’t connect with voice, liked the pacing, thought the pacing was flawed, and any other comments I received, in addition to requests for my next project. Try this and look for common issues. If something stands out as a problem consistently, then that is something that you might need to work on. What I found was for me, there were no consistent issues. Which told me, it was subjective, and I kept querying. YOu might want to look for agents looking for upmarket fiction, which I’ve heard agents describe as that area between literary and commercial. Best of luck
