A Weary Heart

A Canadian’s sadness at the never ending shooting deaths in America

Leslie Wibberley

--

Bleeding bodies
and deaths
multiplying daily.

A voyeur, watching from a safe distance,
overwhelmed by frustration,
wondering
how
a single
soul
can make a
difference,
yet
desperate to try.

Finding solace
in the quiet
beauty
of my home
where silence
reigns,
free
of screams
and tearing
bullets.

Guilt ridden
because
I am safe.

Furious
because
you are not.

Saddened
because
change is slow.

My heart is weary.
